It’s Just Lunch has agreed to pay $60 million in date vouchers and $4.75 million in cash to settle claims that the popular matchmaking service overcharged customers while ignoring their dating preferences.

In addition, the company plans to edit the terms of its contracts in order to honor customer-specified dating preferences.

The class action lawsuit alleged that dating matches were not made by professionals but rather employees with no background or training in offering matchmaking services to clients.

According to the settlement, a New York subclass has also been approved over allegations that state law prohibits dating services from requiring payments in excess of $1,000.

It’s Just Lunch denied these allegations but agreed to the settlement to avoid the cost of further litigation.

I am so sorry I joined it’s just lunch! I paid $2800 a month ago and I haven’t even gone on one date yet! No one returns phone calls or emails. And if they DO return your email, it is a form or template email. It is like pulling teeth trying to find out how this Service works! There is nothing personal about it whatsoever despite what is printed in it’s advertisement. I am sick to my stomach over this and I want my money back. Can I go about doing that?
