debt collection

Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc. and General Revenue Corporation have agreed to pay $575,000 to settle allegations that the companies violated the Electronic Fund Transfer Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Lead plaintiffs Christopher Globus and Michaelene Dawson filed the FDCPA class action against Pioneer Credit after claiming to be sent a form for automatic withdrawal authorization from the debt collector.

The Pioneer Credit class action lawsuit states that the language in the withdrawal authorization violated both the EFTA and the FDCPA because it limited the rights of consumers to stop payment on a preauthorized electronic fund transfer.

If you were sent a certain form of automatic withdrawal authorization between Feb. 17, 2014 and Dec. 4, 2015, and you may be entitled to payment from this class action settlement.

Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc. and General Revenue Corporation deny these allegations but agreed to settle the class action to avoid the expense, inconvenience and distraction of continued litigation.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members include all individuals who were sent any correspondence from the defendants that included the automatic withdrawal authorization between Feb. 17, 2014 and Dec. 4, 2015.

I know this settlement is over but I never received anything other than the original post card to submit a claim. I filed a claim on 2/11/16, claim # 10001794 but I never receive anything else including a check. Was I supposed to receive the $31.21 everyone in the previous comments received? If so, why haven’t I? Thank you.

  7. Laura Taylor says:

I had to take them to a judge just to do a payoff. They refused for over 6 weeks to either mail.email or give me an amount over the phone. They threatened to ruin my credit and I only received the payoff by delivery from a local
Deputy. This was for a check in the mail I never requested.4,500. I need to warn everyone about this company.
