Details: The 21st Century class action lawsuit accuses the insurance company of engaging in unfair business practices by applying surcharges to policyholders who did not have prior insurance. The class action claims that 21st Century had no right to use prior insurance as the basis to impose these charges, and as a result, some policyholders paid higher premiums for their auto insurance policies than they should have.

To be considered a class member of the 21st Century surcharge class action lawsuit, you must have purchased auto insurance from 21st Century at any time between October 1, 1997 and before October 31, 2005, and paid increased premiums due to a lack of prior insurance involving the application of a Persistency Surcharge and/or Accident Verification Surcharge.

As part of the 21st Century class action settlement, you may be able to receive $12 in cash if you were charged a Persistency Surcharge only. If you were charged both the Persistency Surcharge and the Accident Verification Surcharge, you may be able to receive $115 in cash. 21st Century has the records to determine whether you are entitled to claim $12 or $115. You cannot receive both.

In order to receive money from the 21st Century settlement, you must submit a valid claim form postmarked by March 31, 2011.
