The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a number of refunds to consumers in May.

Manhattan Beach Venture FTC Refunds

The FTC issued more than $273,500 in refunds to consumers who paid Manhattan Beach Venture (MBV) and Equitable Acceptance Corporation (EAC) for student debt relief.

MBV allegedly deceptively marketed debt relief and loan forgiveness programs to people seeking student loan help.

The company charged as much as $1,400 in upfront fees and led people to believe the money went toward their loans. MBV then encouraged people to finance the fees through a high-interest loan with third-party lender EAC.

Anyone with questions regarding this refund should contact settlement administrator Analytics Consulting at 1-833-689-2046.

Suboxone Settlement FTC Refunds

The FTC is sending 51,875 payments worth more than $59 million total to consumers who were allegedly overcharged for Suboxone film.

The FTC and companies responsible for Suboxone, an opioid addiction drug, reached settlements totaling $60 million

According to the government agency, the companies violated antitrust laws by preventing consumers from choosing lower-price generic versions of Soboxone.

In order to receive a payment, consumers must have been prescribed Suboxone film and have submitted a valid claim.

Claimants in the settlement are receiving $35.61 for each month they were prescribed Suboxone film between March 1, 2013, and Feb. 28, 2019.

Questions about the Suboxone payments may be directed to administrator JND Legal Administration at 877-545-0238.

Studora FTC Refunds

Consumers who previously filed a report with law enforcement about a student debt relief scheme known by the names Aiding Student Relief, Aidnest, and Studora, among others, are receiving full refunds from the FTC.

The FTC says these companies tricked borrowers into paying illegal upfront fees by making false promises about being able to reduce or eliminate their student loan debt.

Corporate Compliance Services FTC Refunds

Business owners victimized by a scheme that sold labor-law posters are receiving a second round of FTC refund checks.

These business owners each will receive an additional $43.20, which will bring their total refund to $84.

The FTC, Florida Office of the Attorney General, and the Texas Office of the Attorney General claim Corporate Compliance Services sent mailers that looked like invoices from government agencies billing businesses $84 for the posters.

These mailers cited federal statutes, warning business owens they could face up to $17,000 in fines if they did not pay the $84.

A first round of checks was mailed in July 2020, but because money remained in the fund, the FTC is mailing 12,426 additional checks totaling more than $537,000.

Consumers with questions about the Corporate Compliance Services FTC refunds are asked to contact administrator Rust Consulting at 1-877-874-5786.

Global Access Technical Support FTC Refunds

People who paid Global Access Technical Support for unnecessary services also will be receiving a second refund.

The FTC alleged the company — which also did business as Global S Connect, Global sMind, Yubdata Tech, and Technolive — tricked people into paying for unnecessary computer repairs.

The first refunds were sent out in August 2019. However, because money remained in the fund, the FTC is issuing an additional 4,843 checks and 2,047 PayPal payments worth a total of nearly $300,000.
