Live Nation Entertainment broke the law with the way its Ticketmaster platform handled the sale of tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, a new lawsuit alleges.

More than two dozen Taylor Swift fans claim Ticketmaster and parent company Live Nation displayed anticompetitive conduct by requiring ticket buyers to exclusively use the Ticketmaster platform, CNN reports.

Fans reportedly argue Ticketmaster and Live Nation used its exclusivity to charge ticket buyers higher prices in the sale, presale and resale markets.

Taylor Swift, meanwhile, had no choice but to use Ticketmaster to handle ticket sales for The Eras Tour due to agreements the company has in place with the large stadiums hosting her concerts, according to the Ticketmaster lawsuit.

Fans also reportedly accuse Ticketmaster of turning a profit off of resale tickets by charging a service fee to any transactions made between fans on the secondary market.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour fans upset after failing to secure tickets

The proposed complaint comes after millions of fans were up in arms last month after sales for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour overwhelmed Ticketmaster’s website and left many unable to score tickets, CNN reports.

Taylor Swift fans claim Ticketmaster intentionally misled presale ticket holders who had received codes for being “verified fans” of the pop artist. This reportedly assured them tickets, despite a rumored seat shortage, the Ticketmaster lawsuit states.

More than two million tickets were sold for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour on the first day sales opened up to the public, according to Ticketmaster, representing the most ever sold in one day for an artist.

The U.S. Senate said last month that it plans to conduct a hearing over antitrust concerns surrounding Ticketmaster due to its dominant position in the market.
