What is a lawsuit investigation?

You’ve probably seen the Open Lawsuits option in the menu at the top of the Top Class Actions website. Many readers who are familiar with class action lawsuits may still be confused about what a lawsuit investigation is.

Lawsuit investigations are run by class action lawsuit attorneys who contract with Top Class Actions, which helps them find potential plaintiffs or class members who have been affected by certain legal issues. They want to help clients secure compensation for their injuries or losses — and hold companies accountable for any wrongdoing.

As soon as TCA makes a contract with an attorney or law firm to run a class action investigation, the team gets busy researching the legal issue.

In addition to updates about the investigation, TCA also posts about any relevant product recalls, lawsuits, case updates or settlements that have been reached.

How do I join an investigation?

Top Class Actions makes it easy to join the lawsuit investigation. Each investigation article has a link to the appropriate investigation page and form so you can learn more about it and submit your information.

Some articles even have forms placed directly on the page for your convenience. Simply fill out the form with some information about your situation and an attorney will contact you if you qualify. The attorney will discuss the details of your potential case, at no charge to you, and let you know the next steps to take.

When you submit your information for a lawsuit investigation, make sure you complete all of the required fields to increase your chances of getting contacted by an attorney. Thousands of other readers may also submit their information to participate in the investigation, so it’s a good idea to fill out as much information as you can to maximize your chance of getting contacted to participate.

Take a look at our Open Lawsuits page to find out if you qualify to participate in one of TCA’s active investigations.

Does it cost anything to join a lawsuit investigation?

It does not cost anything to participate in a lawsuit investigation.

However, participating in an investigation does involve your cooperation. If you are contacted by a law firm or an attorney, you must reply in order to participate in the investigation. The attorney may not sign you up as a client if you fail to respond to their communication, or you may get dropped from the investigation.

I submitted my information but was not contacted. What do I do now?

Not everyone who submits their information will be contacted to participate in an investigation.

Attorneys who post investigations on Top Class Actions often receive thousands of responses and they are not able to contact everyone. They will review every submission they receive, but they will only contact people who are qualified to serve as a plaintiff in a lawsuit.

There is no need to take any action if you are not contacted by an attorney. It means the attorney reviewing your information determined you did not qualify to participate as a plaintiff.

What if I have a legal issue that’s not listed as an investigation?

If you want to join a class action lawsuit but your legal issue is not represented by one of our active investigations, you can use our Start a Class Action page to submit your information to our network of attorneys. They’ll review your situation and someone will contact you if they are interested in taking on your case.
