Qualify for Settlement

How do I know if I qualify for a settlement?

You’ve probably seen news articles featuring information about a class action settlement involving products you’ve purchased or services you’ve used and wonder if you might qualify for benefits. How can you find out if you’re eligible?

In some cases, the settlement administrator will send a notice of a settlement directly to you by mail or email. If you receive a notice, you’re almost definitely eligible for benefits. Make sure you read through the notice to make sure you fit the definition of a class member before you file a claim.

If you don’t receive notice of a settlement, it does not mean you don’t qualify.

In some cases it is impractical (or impossible) to directly notify class members a class action lawsuit has been settled. To make sure potential class members learn about the settlement, the administrator will post the notice in newspapers, magazines or online.

When you read the notice, pay particular attention to the definition of a class member.

Generally, there will be a certain time span during which you must have been affected by the product or issue in order to qualify. Sometimes the settlement will only apply to people living in certain states. These are the types of information you want to look for. Read the definition carefully to make sure you qualify.

Some settlements require class members to submit proof of purchase or other documentation in order to receive benefits, as well.

If you have any questions about whether you qualify, you can contact the settlement administrator for clarification. Their contact information will be on the notice.

It’s important to remember the settlement administrator will generally have the final say about whether you will get benefits after you submit a claim form. If you didn’t fully complete the claim form, failed to submit required documentation or missed the filing deadline, your claim will be rejected, even if you qualified as a class member.

I have been going back and forth with Match for 10 months regarding my subscription and problems with getting services I paid for to no avail. I know they use fake profiles as all the dating sites do. Bait and switch and lying about these fake profiles is business as usual. They don’t have a phone number as they used to, so you can’t get an answer to your problem. They don’t answer emails expeditiously and will always give a robotic response which has nothing to do with the issue. There’s no follow-up with the same customer service person, so you have to start over all the time. A fourteen million dollar settlement is nothing for them. It has no teeth. Either they are shut down, undergo a complete audit of their site and profile base, they will continue to make money and ruin people’s lives by getting their hopes up while never successfully allowing people to meet their match. If you meet someone and leave the site, that’s not good for business.

  8. Sara says:

I have filed for a few class action lawsuits in which I qualify for.. I have yet to receive any sort of compensation, and many were filed last year. Im fine with waiting the time it takes for these cases to be settled, however, I am NOT okay with having literally 15-20 missed calls and voicemails left on my cell phone every single day! It’s absolutely insane, and I have had my phone ring at 3am in the morning! I have kept screenshots of these calls, and they are coming from Ny, WA, and PA. is this why I have not received my settlement checks? I’d appreciate if someone can answer this question, Via Email, because It’s borderline harassment. especially when I have asked repeatedly to contact me via email.
