Lawsuit Filed On Behalf of Yaz Stroke Victim Who Died
By Kimberly Mirando
A Yaz lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a 57-year-old woman who died after suffering a stroke caused by a Yaz blood clot. The lawsuit is seeking to hold manufacturer Bayer liable for her life-threatening injuries for failing to warn the public about the increased risk of dangerous blood clots from taking Yaz and its sister medications Yasmin, Beyaz and Ocella. These birth control pills can increase a user’s risk of developing blood clots by 74 percent, and have been linked to at least 50 deaths between 2004 and 2008. According to the Yaz stroke lawsuit, filed on July 19, 2012, Maria Cunningham suffered severe injuries related to Yaz blood clots that caused her wrongful death. Cunningham allegedly suffered a cerebrovascular accident (or stroke) caused by a blood clot she developed in January 2004. The Yaz lawyer representing her family alleges the blood clot was caused by her use of Yaz.
