Groupon has agreed to pay $8.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the online commerce company violated federal and state laws by failing to disclose that vouchers contained expiration dates and various restrictions.
The Groupon class action lawsuit further claimed that the company failed to make required disclosures about the terms of use or terms of sale regarding vouchers on Groupon’s website.
The $8.5 million Groupon settlement will reimburse Class Members for unused vouchers through online credits to the e-marketplace.
A 2012 Groupon proposed settlement agreement has been terminated. However, individuals who submitted Claim Forms under the last voucher settlement will automatically be resubmitted for this one unless they want to withdraw, which must happen before Jan. 9, 2016.
Several businesses filed lawsuits against Groupon which were centralized in the Southern District of California, except one potential Groupon class action lawsuit that remains pending in Illinois.
Groupon continues to deny the allegations yet agreed to the terms of the voucher class action settlement in order to avoid the cost of further litigation.

I have applied for the settlement in July 2012 and it seems like this lawsuit was extended.
I never heard anymore since my submittal and was wondering how you should find out about receiving my credits for the unused Groupons that expired?
I see the groupon bucks have supposedly been distributed however I did not receive mine. I called the number listed and they were not able to help me (not really a surprise) They suggested I email my claim information to “[email protected]” however that just got bounced back to me as if that email does not exist.
I will be contacting Rust Consulting (setlement administrator) and legal counsel for the class to see what I can learn.
TL;DR: Go to https://www.groupon.com/mybucks !
Even under the revised and improved settlement, Groupon has made it hard to find the vouchers.
I couldn’t find the voucher, despite getting an email like Truth Teller’s. So I opened a chat session with groupon support. They refused to help me find the voucher, insisting I call for help.
Eventually, I found the vouchers. They’re well hidden. Go to
https://www.groupon.com/mybucks (Or login, and in the top right, under your name, choose My Groupons and look for Groupon Bucks Balance.
Got much less than I should have, which makes no sense if they are based on valid Groupons individuals submitted. Oh well.
Hi xxxxxxxx,
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Dear Groupon Settlement Class Member,
You are receiving this email because you have been awarded Groupon credits pursuant to the claim or claims that you submitted in the Groupon Voucher Class Action Settlement (the “Settlement”).
The total value of the vouchers submitted under the Settlement exceeded the value of the Settlement Fund. As a result, the amount deposited in your account is a pro rata amount of the Settlement Fund. If you submitted multiple valid claims under the Settlement based on the purchase of multiple vouchers, you will receive your credits in a lump sum amount, rather than as individual credits for each claim submitted. The credit amount awarded to you was determined by an independent claims administrator. You will see the credits in your account labeled as “allocation” or “settlement credits” within three business days.
The credits will remain valid for nine months. You will see the date of issuance and date of expiration in your account.
If you previously deactivated your Groupon account, you should click here to reset your account password and access the credits.
If you need assistance accessing the credits or have any questions, please contact Groupon at 1-844-298-4322.
Regards,
Groupon Customer Support
The Groupon I bought that is relevant to this case was for $50. I got a credit for $32.28. The original Groupon was purchased in 2011 (lol) and I was just now reimbursed 65% of that. Not exactly fair IMO, but whatever.
I just heard from Rust Consulting. They have finished their work and it has very recently been passed on to the Groupon lawyers. We should be hearing from them in the next few weeks. FYI. March 21, 2017
