Deadlines Close for Crayola & Interstate Batteries Class Action Settlements

By Matt O’Donnell

class action lawsuit settlementTwo claims filing deadlines are approaching at the end of the month for some big-name class action lawsuit settlements. If you purchased or received as a gift Crayola Washable Colored Bubbles or purchased an Interstate Batteries-brand battery, you may be eligible to participate in these class action settlements. Here’s additional information to help you get started.

Crayola Washable Colored Bubbles Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

The Crayola Washable Colored Bubbles settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, titled Alyson Herfert v. Crayola LLC, that alleges Crayola falsely advertised that the marks left behind by the colored bubbles would be “temporary and washable.”

Class Members of the Crayola Colored Bubbles class action settlement include all U.S. consumers who purchased or acquired (including by gift) 2011 Washable Colored Bubbles, including individual bottles of bubble solution, and the Washable Colored Bubbles Bubble Launcher, Wand Set, three pack and Play Pack.

Class Members that file a claim by the deadline of December 31, 2012 can receive a cash reimbursement plus $5 in vouchers, as well as compensation for out-of-pocket costs to clean stains and repair property damage.

Interstate Batteries Class Action Lawsuit Settlement

The Interstate Batteries settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, titled Milano v. Interstate Battery System of American, Inc., that takes aim at the company’s Pro-Rata Warranty. During the Pro-Rata-Warranty-coverage period, the original purchaser of that battery is entitled to purchase a replacement battery at an adjusted price, which is based on how long the original battery lasts. The Interstate Batteries class action lawsuit alleges the company’s Pro-Rata Warranty did not comply with warranty laws and that Interstate Batteries breached their warranty and violated consumer protection laws by sometimes miscalculating the price charged for replacement batteries.

Class Members of the Interstate Batteries class action settlement include original purchasers of an Interstate Batteries trademarked battery (meaning the Interstate Batteries, Nationwide, PowerVolt and Quickstart brands) between April 19, 2000 and April 30, 2012 who meet certain conditions.

Class Members without a receipt will receive a $5 product voucher, while those with proof of purchase can choose between a $12 product voucher or an $8.50 check card. The only way to receive benefits from the class action settlement is to submit a claim form no later than December 31, 2012.
