If you are a current or former Spectrum residential Internet or TV customer who experienced unexpected price increases, you may be able to pursue compensation for those overcharges. Fill out the form on this page to find out if you qualify.

Spectrum, operated by Charter Communications, is facing allegations that it used a bait-and-switch pricing scheme, causing customers to pay more for Internet and TV services. According to customer complaints, Spectrum advertised and promised fixed monthly prices for one- or two-year service periods, but later raised those prices before the promotional terms expired.

Customers allege that these price increases occurred despite assurances that rates would remain fixed for the full promotional period, leaving subscribers paying more than they were led to expect.

Do you qualify?

You may qualify for this investigation if you are a current or former Spectrum residential Internet or TV customer who experienced price increases during a promised fixed-rate period.

This includes customers who signed up for a one- or two-year fixed-price plan and later saw their monthly bills increase due to higher base rates, added or increased Broadcast TV Surcharges, or rising equipment fees.

If Spectrum raised your monthly costs in the middle of a fixed-rate period, fill out the form on this page.

How Spectrum allegedly increased prices

Despite promises of fixed-rate internet and TV plans, Spectrum customers allege that the company raised prices in multiple ways:

  • Increasing the base rate of the service plan: Customers claim that Spectrum increased the base price of Internet and TV service plans on an annual basis — even when subscribers were still within the one- or two-year fixed-price period.
  • Charging broadcast TV surcharges: Customers with TV service allege that Spectrum imposed a so-called “Broadcast TV Surcharge.” Subscribers contend that this surcharge was not clearly disclosed at the time of sign-up and that Spectrum later raised the fee while customers were in supposedly fixed-price plans.
  • Increasing equipment fees: Customers claim that Spectrum increased equipment-related fees, including charges for cable boxes and modems, in the middle of fixed-price service periods.
  • Removing channels mid-plan: Some subscribers further allege that Spectrum removed TV channels that were initially included in their service plans and then charged additional fees to reinstate those channels. This contradicted Spectrum’s promise of a fixed price for the service plan, which included the channels.

Through these allegedly deceptive pricing practices, Spectrum is accused of collecting hundreds of millions of dollars in overcharges from subscribers across the nation.

The law firm handling this investigation is seeking to recover money for affected customers through legal action.

  1. Sarah Johnson says:

We had Spectrum internet and TV for years and it was fine at first but then we end up having to cancel because our bill went from 70 $80 up to $200 something they never gave us a warning or contacted us about even wanting to continue to pay for service under those terms of that amount. Everyone that I talk to about Spectrum has talked about haha they are and that their bill continuously changes so it’s not just a few people this is probably affected hundreds of thousands. They definitely need to stop businesses from this type of behaviors and then they wonder why they lose business. The Better Business Bureau really needs to do something about this as well because the bait and switch type of situation isn’t fair to Consumers at all when a lot of us are already on budgets. I’ve also noticed how they have Representatives at Walmart which we ran into two people last week trying to get us to get back to Spectrum will year before last we were going to give them another try so we signed up for it and they sent us the equipment and my dad had a couple of questions so he called into technical Services and they were so rude to him he told them the heck with it and he actually sent their equipment back to them. We now have T-Mobile fiber and our first month was free everything is included in our $55 monthly contract and we have it for the next 5 years

Good old bait and switch tactic has to stop! Give you one price and then back door raise the rates for the same service. I use to have another carrier but when I moved to another state unfortunately it wasn’t available. It makes me sick to know that they are charging higher rates for Lower internet speed. Even my mobile service has increased.

  4. Lydia Fiegel says:

They really got to me.I would call and change my programming to get a lower bill. They would tell me my bill would drop to say,110.00.It never would,it would be 3 times that much or more. That happened to me multiple times. My bill would rum more than my mortgage at times.

  10. Autumn says:

I moved apartment buildings and canceled my old internet and had to get new. They told me it was taken care of. I had auto pay set up so months go by and I finally noticed they were charging me DOUBLE. For this apartment and my old one. Even after telling me they took care of it on the phone. Didn’t even get my money back. Which I really needed at the time. They are always raising the prices on me too. It’s so frustrating.
