Toyota falsely assures buyers of its Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that hydrogen fuel is easy to find, a new class action lawsuit alleges.ย
A group of consumers claim hydrogen fuel, despite Toyotaโs alleged assurance to the contrary, is continuing to come โmore and more difficult to obtain,โ making the Mirai vehicles โunsafe, unreliable and inoperable.โย
โWhile Toyota sells the Mirai while assuring consumers that hydrogen refueling is available, seamless, and comparable to refueling with gasoline, that is not the case,โ the Toyota Mirai class action says.ย
The consumers want to represent a California class of consumers who have purchased or leased model year 2021-2024 Toyota Mirai vehicles.ย
Toyota aware of refueling limitations with Mirai vehicles, class action claims
The consumers argue owners of Toyota Mirai vehicles are either unable to use their vehicle or have to travel long distances to find hydrogen fuel and, in many cases, are ultimately unable to find it at all.ย
โDespite Toyota being aware of these refueling limitations, throughout the relevant period, Toyota and its salespeople tell customers prior to sale and/or lease of its Mirai vehicles that hydrogen fuel is available and that refueling the Mirai is seamless,โ the Toyota Mirai class action says.ย
The group of consumers claim Toyota is guilty of fraudulent concealment and misrepresentation and unjust enrichment and in violation of the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and Californiaโsย Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, among other things.ย
The plaintiffs demand a jury trial and request declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of exemplary and punitive damages for themselves and all class members.ย
Toyota recently issued a recall for more than 145,000 of its Grand Highlander and Lexus TX550 vehicles over concerns their airbags may not work as intended during a crash.ย

So done with this car please let me join the lawsuit. Most stations been out of fuel for many months have to drive 20 miles total each time just to get fuel.
Why only Mirai 21-24. We purchased a used 2017 mirai and have had same exoerience. The fuel card barely lasted two years because of cost and efficiency. Mirai is a ripoff. Now stuck with a car that is worth about $2k and massively upside down. Worst investment and Toyota is a better car company than this. There cars are known to be good investments. There position on this vehicle towards their customers is showing a totally different business mindset and made me steer clear of this car maker now.
I have been scammed into buying the 2022 Toyota Mirai with the promise of the fuel card lasting for 6 years. I will be done with the card in less than 2 years because of price gauging on hydrogen fuel. I want to join the class action suit because of misrepresentation by Toyota
Like everyone else have purchased a vehicle, thinking of new technology and incentives. Have had so many issues with refueling, that i gave up hope on even using the car. Now it sits in the garage mostly collecting dust, while im making payment for it. My wife purchased Mirai as well at the same time and her car had to be towed a few times already due to inability to refuel and stations in the area being offline. One day we sat at the fueling station together for over 4 hours while waiting for technician to reset the pump, because the range of the hydrogen wouldnt even get us to the closest station and the fear that we might be even more stranded along the way there.

I purchased this car 2 years ago. Nice car, car pool access, but refueling is a nightmare. Donโt get me started. Constant errors, empty on gas stations, not able to recognize my credit cards, big wait lines to stations, only a few stations in LA and etc. A full tank cost about $130 and lasts only for about 200-220miles. So Iโd definitely like to participate in this case.
