According to a recent recall by Kimberly Clark, several types of U by Kotex tampons are being recalled after consumer reports that the tampons can unravel or fall apart during use, leaving pieces behind in people’s bodies.

Which U by Kotex Tampons Have Been Recalled?

The voluntary Kotex recall states that regular absorbency U by Kotex sleek tampons may be affected by this product defect. According to the recall, the affected tampons were manufactured between Oct. 7, 2016, and Oct. 16, 2018. The packages were distributed to stores in the United States and Canada between Oct. 17, 2016, and Oct. 23, 2018.

What are the Alleged Dangers of U by Kotex Tampons?

According to complaints from consumers, the defective tampons reportedly unraveled or came apart during the removal process. This unraveling caused pieces of the tampons to break off and be left behind inside of several people. According to a release by Kimberly Clark, some users required medical attention in order to remove all of the pieces of the shredded feminine hygiene products.

In addition to the tampons falling apart inside of people, there have also been reports of users suffering from vaginal injuries due to the degrading material, as well as infections, vaginal irritation, and other localized symptoms. The recall notice recommends that any users who experience vaginal injuries, pain, bleeding, hot flashes, nausea, or vomiting after using the product should seek medical attention and immediately discontinue use of the product.

Who is Affected?

While Kotex says that retailers have pulled the defective products from shelves and put up warnings and recall notices, many consumers may still have packages included in the recall in their homes. If you use Kotex tampons, there may be recalled feminine hygiene products in your packages or multi-packs.

If you have used U by Kotex regular absorbency sleek tampons and have experienced product degradation, unraveling, or breakage, you may be able to pursue reimbursement for the defective product, as well as compensation for any pain and suffering, injuries, or emotional distress.
