Generic Zoloft Manufacturers Immune From Lawsuits, Congress Fights To Make Them Culpable
By Scott Hardy
Parents of children filing birth defect lawsuits alleging Zoloft caused persistent Pulmonary Hypertension (PPHN), Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), ventricular septal defects (VSD), abdominal birth defects (omphalocele), cranial birth defects (craniosynotosis), aorta coarctation, hypoplastic right or left heart syndrome, transposition of the great arteries (TGA), tetralogy of fallot (TOF), spina bifida and club feet may run into major problems if they took the generic version of Zoloft. The supreme court ruled in 2011 that generic drug manufacturers are not responsible for the warning labels placed on the boxes and pill bottles. What does this mean for parents of children who were born with birth defects which may be because of Zoloft or another antidepressant? It may mean that suing the manufacturer of the generic drug is a waste of time. It’s one very important reason why you should always speak with a birth defect attorney. Only an attorney who works Zoloft or SSRI antidepressant birth defect cases can determine if you have a case that is worth pursuing.
