Yaz lawsuitA 22-year-old senior at Western Washington University, filed a Yaz lawsuit after she suffered a life-threatening blood clot in her lung in August 2011. She started taking Yaz just four months before she suffered the pulmonary embolism. The senior claims that Yaz was the reason she suffered the pulmonary embolism. Yaz was the first birth control pill she had ever used.

For the first few months of use, she experienced no Yaz side effects. However, one night she woke up with severe chest pains. A few nights later, she experienced sharp pains in her ribcage. When the pain did not subside, she convinced her parents to take her to the hospital.

An MRI revealed that the young woman had a blood clot in her lung, a condition known as a pulmonary embolism. Doctors told her that she had suffered a heart attack on the first night she awoke to chest pains. Following the diagnosis, she had to take blood thinners for six months. During this time, she had to have her blood drawn regularly and be monitored by physicians. Once she was off the blood thinners, doctors performed a genetic test to determine whether she was predisposed to blood clots. They concluded that she did not have a genetic predisposition to blood clots.

Unfortunately, her Yaz pulmonary embolism experience will affect her for the rest of her life. Because she suffered from Yaz blood clots, the Western Washington University plaintiff will be at a higher risk of developing a blood clot during pregnancy. Her doctors have told her that she cannot take any type of hormonal birth control.

The 22-year-old senior is seeking to have Yaz pulled from the market because it puts women at such an increased risk of developing Yaz blood clots. She wants to prevent other women from suffering a life-threatening Yaz pulmonary embolism.

The Yasmin/Yaz Blood Clot Link

Yaz is a type of hormonal birth control that is manufactured and marketed by Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Yaz contains the hormone drospirenone, which the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has associated with an increased risk of blood clots. Bayer has insisted that the risk of Yaz blood clots is no higher than the blood clot risk associated with the other oral contraceptive pills available on the market.

Other serious Yaz side effects include:

  • Stroke
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Heart attack
  • Deep vein thrombosis

If You Have Suffered from Yaz Side Effects, Take Legal Action

Many women have come forward, alleging that they have suffered serious Yaz blood clots. They have filed Yaz lawsuits that accuse Bayer of misleading marketing, products liability and failure to provide adequate warning about the drug’s blood clot risk.

Please take this down. I did not give my permission to have my story be used as advertising. I don’t even know how you found my story. I’m assuming you stole this story from my collage newspaper that was written as an informative piece to make other women aware of what they are putting into their body.
