Beyaz Birth Control Just As Dangerous As Yasmin, Yaz & Ocella
By Andrea Gressman
A number of women continue to file Beyaz birth control lawsuits due to the severe side effects Beyaz and other birth control pills, including Yasmin, Yaz, and Ocella, have been linked to. It has now become clear that Beyaz is just as dangerous as Yasmin, Yaz, and Ocella. One young woman, Grace, has recently come forward to share her negative experience with Beyaz side effects.
Grace began taking Beyaz in 2006, but had to discontinue use after one year of taking the birth control. She visited her doctor, complaining of swelling in her hands and feet. Her doctor discovered she had a blood clot, a common side effect of Beyaz, Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella birth control pills.
Beyaz Side Effects Become a Serious Danger to the Patients
Grace, 26, claimed to have excellent health prior to taking Beyaz. After discovering her Beyaz blood clot, her doctor sent her to the hospital for a CAT scan and a MRI with contrast dye. They also discovered a small spot on her lung, which turned out to be a mucus spot. Though this is not a typical side effect of Beyaz, it still was a cause of concern for Grace.
What Causes Beyaz, Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella Side Effects?
Beyaz, Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella birth control pills contain drospirenone, a fourth-generation progestin linked to an increased risk of blood clots. The FDA recently required all manufacturers of drospirenone-containing birth control pills to update their warning labels to include this increased risk of blood clots.
How Does Beyaz Birth Control Differ from Yasmin, Yaz, and Ocella?
Beyaz, which is relatively new on the market, differs from other drospirenone birth control pills only in that it has 24 hormone pills that include levomefolate calcium or B vitamin/folic acid. Beyaz is recommended for women in their reproductive years; therefore, it does contain folic acid.
FDA Advisory Panel Recommends Updated Beyaz Warning Labels of Side Effects
All birth control pills that contain drospirenone should update their labels warning users of the risk of blood clots. This recommendation was issued in December of 2011 by an independent FDA advisory panel. The recommendation came as an indication that contraceptives containing drospirenone may increase the side effect risk of dangerous blood clots in women than older forms of birth control.
Lifelong Side Effects of Women Who Took Beyaz, Yasmin, Yaz, and Ocella
For many women, it is impossible to revert to older forms of birth control after using the fourth-generation birth control pills. Many have developed blood clots, deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism and have been told by their doctors that they can never again use a hormonal medication, which includes hormonal replacement therapy in the treatment of menopause.
As a result of Grace’s Beyaz side effects she is considering getting her tubes tied. Concerned for her health, she has vowed never again to take birth control pills.
