Bayer Admits No Wrongdoing in Yaz Lawsuit Settlements
By Andrea Gressman

The fact that Bayer has been very quick to settle Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits but will not admit liability seems contradictory. According to Bayer, they are willing to pay out almost a billion dollars in settlements for doing nothing wrong.
So far most of the women have been eager to settle their Yasmin and Yaz lawsuits despite the manufacturer withholding its admission of wrongdoing. But there are still thousands of Yaz lawsuits to settle, leaving one to wonder if some of these women are holding out in order for Bayer to admit wrongdoing. For some Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella side effect victims it may not be enough just to receive a monetary settlement without the admission of guilt.
Others who have accepted a Yaz blood clot settlement without Bayer’s admission of guilt may be in a position where they have to accept the settlement offer. The side effects that Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella have been linked to are very serious in nature. They can also run up a huge medical tab and many women have suffered from lost wages due to their injuries. Due to these factors some women are desperate to take any settlement offer they receive from Bayer in order to pay for their expenses. It is likely that Bayer knows this and is taking advantage of this situation as well.
It will be interesting to see when it is all said and done how many Yaz lawsuits Bayer is able to settle and if there will be any plaintiffs left in the end who demand to go to trial. Regardless, this has been a very expensive process for the manufacturer of the popular oral birth control pills.
There have been thousands of Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella lawsuits filed so far and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
