$409,000 Roca Labs FTC violation settlement

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is sending out 7,481 payments totaling over $409,000 to individuals who purchased products from Roca Labs, a marketer of weight-loss supplements.

If recipients get a check, they should cash it within 90 days. If they receive a payment through PayPal, they should accept it within 30 days.

The FTC is also sending claim forms to 34 people who bought a product from Roca Labs before October 2015.

According to the FTC, Roca Labs claimed its weight-loss supplements were effective alternatives to gastric bypass surgery. The FTC said these claims were untrue.

The company also threatened to sue customers who shared their negative experiences online or complained to the Better Business Bureau.

A court ordered Roca Labs to pay the penalty. The FTC is using that money to send payments to eligible customers who bought a product from Roca Labs before October 2015.

To be eligible for a refund under the Roca Labs settlement, consumers must file a claim by Oct. 7, 2025.

Payment amounts depend on several factors, including how many people file claims.

The FTC does not have a mailing date yet for payments but will update its website when it has more information.
