Taxotere Chemo Hair LossWhile most patients who go into chemotherapy for breast cancer treatment are aware that a common side effect is hair loss, many do not know that hair growth after chemo may be difficult or even impossible in some cases.

According to a growing number of women, the Taxotere side effects may include not just hair loss, but permanent hair loss.

Many women prepare for the almost inevitable hair loss during chemotherapy by deciding on hats, wigs, scarves, or sporting short hair for a time. However, permanent hair loss may not have been a possibility they had ever considered.

Taxotere Hair Growth After Chemo

Taxotere is a widely used breast cancer chemotherapy treatment drug. Taxotere works to combat cancer by stopping the growth of cancer cells, stopping the spread of cancer through the body. Taxotere is also used to treat various lung, prostate, and stomach cancers.

While many chemotherapy patients may not be aware of the exact name of their chemotherapy drug, there are still ways to identify Taxotere and determine whether or not it may be responsible for permanent hair loss problems.

Taxotere is given intravenously to chemotherapy patients. Intravenous drugs are given to patients by dripping through an infusion into the vein of the patient. This treatment process must be done once every one to three weeks. Treatment usually lasts for about an hour per session.

If you or someone you love has suffered from problems with hair growth after chemo and remember being treated intravenously, you may have been treated with Taxotere.

According to reports, about eight out of every ten patients who are treated with Taxotere not only suffer hair loss from chemoterapy, they also commonly experience problems with hair growth after chemo later on.

Many patients were unaware for a long time that Taxotere was associated with permanent problems with hair growth after chemo. However, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration required in December 2015 that Taxotere be updated to include the risk of permanent hair growth after chemo complications.

Taxotere Lawsuits

It is already difficult enough for women to deal with cancer, chemotherapy treatment, and temporary hair loss.

Some women have found that simply coping with their permanent hair loss problems is not enough of a response, and have responded further by filing a Taxotere lawsuit against Sanofi-Aventis, the drug’s manufacturer.

These women hope to receive some kind of compensation for their physical and emotional suffering.

These lawsuits allege that Sanofi-Aventis either knew or should have known about the potentially permanent hair loss side effects associated with Taxotere, but failed to adequately warn patients and the medical community about the risk.

Many women claim that they were left completely uninformed that Taxotere side effects could be permanent, and had always assumed that their hair would grow back on its own.

Some women even report that they were told their hair loss would only be temporary, and yet now suffer from permanent hair loss.

If you or someone you love has permanent hair loss or had difficulties with hair growth after chemo, you may be able to file a Taxotere lawsuit. While a Taxotere lawsuit cannot take away the pain and suffering of cancer patients, or cause hair growth after chemo, it may be able to help with financial expenses.
