Southern Illinois Healthcare agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims it violated privacy laws by using tracking pixels on its website.

The MyChart settlement benefits Southern Illinois Healthcare patients who signed into the MyChart patient portal or scheduled appointments through the MyChart patient portal or website open scheduling between Feb. 21, 2022, and Feb. 28, 2023, or June 12, 2023, and July 6, 2023, or who completed a health risk assessment between Nov. 2, 2020, and Jan. 31, 2021, or Feb. 1, 2021, and April 30, 2021.

According to the class action lawsuit, Southern Illinois Healthcare used tracking pixels on its website to collect patient data and share it with third parties. Plaintiffs in the case say this practice violated Illinois privacy laws.

Southern Illinois Healthcare is a network of hospitals and other medical facilities serving Southern Illinois.

Southern Illinois Healthcare has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the tracking pixel class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the MyChart settlement, class members can receive a one-time cash payment of $17.50.

Class members can also receive one year of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, a service that includes dark web scanning, compromised password scanning, a VPN, a password manager and other online privacy tools.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 15, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the Southern Illinois Healthcare class action settlement is scheduled for Aug. 24, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by June 15, 2026.
