Mercedes-Benz has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to cover certain high-cost emissions-related parts under its California emissions warranty.

The Mercedes-Benz settlement benefits consumers who purchased or leased a Mercedes-Benz vehicle model year 2015 or later in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia or Washington who paid to diagnose, repair or replace certain emissions-related parts between 4 years/50,000 miles and 7 years/70,000 miles.

According to the class action lawsuit, Mercedes-Benz failed to cover certain high-cost emissions-related parts under its California emissions warranty. As a result, consumers were allegedly forced to pay out of pocket for these repairs.

Mercedes-Benz is a luxury car brand that sells vehicles around the world, including in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz has not admitted any wrongdoing in this class action settlement but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the emissions warranty class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Mercedes-Benz settlement, class members can receive reimbursement for repairs and diagnoses related to high-cost emissions parts. The settlement covers 50% reimbursement for repairs and 100% reimbursement for diagnoses

The class action settlement also provides ongoing coverage for high-cost emissions-related repairs and replacements. This coverage will provide 100% reimbursement for repairs and replacements of covered parts after the expiration of the vehicle’s four-year/50,000-mile warranty but before the expiration of the seven-year/70,000-mile warranty.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 30, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the Mercedes-Benz settlement is scheduled for June 25, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form. The deadline to submit a claim for repairs and diagnoses that occurred before March 16, 2026, is May 15, 2026. The deadline to submit a claim for repairs and diagnoses that occurred after March 16, 2026, is 60 days after the date of repair or diagnosis.
