LensCrafters agreed to a $39 million settlement in a class action lawsuit that claimed the company engaged in deceptive advertising by making certain statements regarding its AccuFit Digital System that were allegedly false or misleading.
The settlement class is made up of U.S. residents who, from Sept. 5, 2013, to Sept. 20, 2023, purchased prescription eyeglasses in the United States from LensCrafters after being fitted with AccuFit.
The plaintiff claims the defendant violated certain laws by making material misrepresentations about its AccuFit system, claiming that it was “five times more precise” than traditional methods, measuring “down to a tenth of a millimeter” despite never updating its manufacturing process to manufacture glasses to a 0.1mm specification.
EssilorLuxottica designs and manufactures ophthalmic lenses, frames and sunglasses. They own a large portfolio of eyeglass brands, including LensCrafters, an international retailer of prescription eyewear and prescription sunglasses with independent optometrists hosted at most stores.
The company denies any accusations of wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims.
Every class member who submits a valid claim will be entitled to a payment from the net settlement fund.
Class members will have the opportunity to receive a maximum of $50 for each pair of prescription eyeglasses they purchased from LensCrafters during the class period. This amount is subject to adjustment on a pro rata basis if the total claims surpass the available funds.
The deadline to opt out of the LensCrafters settlement is Feb. 5, 2024, and the deadline to object is Jan. 29, 2024.
A final fairness hearing in the LensCrafters AccuFit class action lawsuit settlement will take place Feb. 26, 2024.
Claim forms must be submitted no later than 30 days after the entry of the court’s final approval order.

April 25 2025 Received paper check for $113 in NJ
April 22, 2025: Received paper check via USPS today for $56.58. I submitted receipts for 2 pairs so I was surprised by the amount. Settlement paperwork indicates payments would be “up to $50” for “each pair.” Enclosed letter did not provide any explanation as to why this amount.
Received $310.97 via PayPal today.
Just received $56.54 today
Exact amount I received via Venmo
Final approval was granted two months ago. How long will it be before payments begin to be sent out?
I’ve emailed the general info email twice and get some generic response that doesn’t say much. I emailed the plaintiff atty. no response. My next step will be to email the federal judge overseeing this and cc’ing the lawyer who never responded.
