Legacy Health agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it shared patient information with Meta and Google without consent.

The settlement benefits Legacy Health patients who were invited to and did register for a Legacy Health patient portal account between Feb. 18, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2020, and those who logged into the patient portal between Jan. 1, 2021, and Feb. 9, 2024.

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Legacy Health shared patient information with Meta and Google without patient consent. This information sharing allegedly violated patients’ privacy rights.

Legacy Health is a nonprofit health system that offers medical services in Oregon and Washington.

Legacy Health has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Legacy Health settlement, class members can receive a $15 cash payment.

All class members are also eligible for one year of free Medical Shield Complete, a privacy protection solution that includes credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, transaction monitoring and security freeze assistance.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is March 16, 2026.

The final approval hearing for the Legacy Health data privacy settlement is scheduled for April 16, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by March 16, 2026.
