Harmony Nursing & Rehabilitation Center agreed to a class action settlement to resolve claims that it violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by using fingerprint time clocks without providing certain disclosures.Â
The settlement benefits individuals who worked for Harmony Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Illinois between Feb. 22, 2015, and Feb. 23, 2023, who used a fingerprint scanning time clock before signing a biometric consent form.
Harmony Nursing employees say their privacy rights were violated by fingerprint timekeeping devices used by the nursing and rehabilitation center. According to the class action lawsuit, Harmony failed to provide disclosures and obtain consent as required by BIPA.
