Consumers nationwide who purchased heater control panels from the DENSO Corp., DENSO International America, or another DENSO defendant may benefit from a $326,216.74 auto parts antitrust class action lawsuit settlement resolving claims of price fixing.
Settlement Class Members include all U.S. residents who bought heater control panels directly from a DENSO defendant between Jan. 1, 2000, and March 23, 2017. These heater control panels were marketed as climate controls for the inside of a vehicle.
Plaintiffs allege the DENSO defendants participated in a plan to fix prices for its heater control panels. Per the lawsuit documents, the plaintiffs say the defendants attempted to raise, fix, maintain, and stabilize prices all while rigging bids and allocating markets.
These actions, according to the plaintiffs, constitute a violation of the Sherman Act.
The company denies the plaintiffs’ allegations. In response to the class action lawsuit, the company has affirmed that it would assert specific defenses to counter the plaintiffs’ claims if the litigation were to continue.
However, rather than continue to pursue the DENSO auto parts price fixing class action lawsuit, both parties have determined it’s better to agree to terms outlined in the proposed settlement agreement.
Auto parts maker DENSO, a Chinese corporation, made a profit of $1.4 billion from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, according to the company website.
