Bitcoin ATM operator Byte Federal has agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach that compromised sensitive consumer information.
The Byte Federal settlement benefits consumers whose private information was compromised in Byte Federal’s Nov. 18, 2024, data breach.
The data breach class action lawsuit claims Byte Federal failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures that could have prevented the 2024 data breach. The Byte Federal data breach compromised names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, transaction information and more.
Byte Federal is a cryptocurrency ATM company with locations across the country. The company lets users send and receive Bitcoin.
The company hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Byte Federal settlement, class members can receive up to $3,000 for documented data breach losses such as fraud, identity theft, professional fees, credit costs and other expenses.
Class members can also receive compensation for up to four hours of lost time at a rate of $20 per hour. This benefit is capped at $80.
All class members are eligible for two years of free credit monitoring services valued at $90 per year. These services include real-time credit monitoring, dark web scanning, public record monitoring, identity theft insurance, fraud resolution agents and more.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 4, 2025.
The final approval hearing for the Byte Federal data breach settlement is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2025.
In order to receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Aug. 19, 2025.
Who’s Eligible
All individuals residing in the United States whose private information was impacted by the Byte Federal data breach that occurred on Nov. 18, 2024.

Receipts, account statements, tax forms, financial documents, legal letters and other proof of data breach-related expenses.

I received multiple email noticed stating thr danger regarding my bitcoin acct info being exposed but I forwarded them onto an attorneys office? Who advised me to join from here. Ive since blocked all communications with bitcoin security/admin b. I cant tell which are spam and which are legit.
