Consumers can benefit from a $2.5 million Bay Bridge data breach settlement if their information was compromised in a 2022 cyberattack.
The settlement benefits consumers who received a data breach notification informing them their personal information was compromised or potentially compromised in the September 2022 Bay Bridge data breach.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Bay Bridge failed to protect consumers from the breach by implementing reasonable cybersecurity measures.
Bay Bridge Administrators LLC is a third-party employee benefit plan administrator.
Bay Bridge hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $2.5 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the Bay Bridge data breach settlement, class members can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented data breach-related expenses. This may include fraudulent charges, identity theft damages and other costs that can be traced back to the data breach.
All class members are eligible for an additional pro rata settlement payment. These payments will vary depending on the amount left in the settlement fund after reimbursement claims are paid, but each class member is estimated to receive around $50.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is June 24, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for July 30, 2024.
To receive a Bay Bridge data breach settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 24, 2024.
