AutoZone has agreed to a settlement to resolve claims it violated Pennsylvania privacy laws by tracking customer activity on its website without their consent.
The settlement benefits Pennsylvania residents who placed an order on AutoZone.com between Jan. 1, 2022, and the present while the website was equipped with session replay technology and who were not members of the AutoZone Rewards program.
The plaintiff in the web tracking class action lawsuit claims AutoZone used session replay technology on its website to track mouse movements and clicks. This technology allegedly tracked customer activity without their consent, violating Pennsylvania’s Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act (WESCA).
AutoZone is an auto parts retailer with more than 6,000 stores around the country.
AutoZone has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive a $20 cash payment.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 14, 2025.
The final approval hearing for the AutoZone settlement is scheduled for Nov. 25, 2025.
To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 13, 2025.
