The Wildlife Conservation Society has agreed to a $990,000 class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it charged illegal processing fees for Bronx Zoo tickets purchased online.

The Bronx Zoo class action settlement benefits consumers who were charged processing fees when using the Bronx Zoo’s website to purchase electronic tickets between Aug. 28, 2022, and Jan. 16, 2024.

Plaintiffs in the Bronx Zoo ticket class action lawsuit claimed the Wildlife Conservation Society failed to disclose processing fees for electronic tickets to the Bronx Zoo. Their class action lawsuit alleged these undisclosed fees violated New York law.

The Wildlife Conservation Society is a nonprofit organization that operates the Bronx Zoo, the New York Aquarium, the Central Park Zoo, the Queens Zoo and the Prospect Park Zoo.

The Wildlife Conservation Society hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $990,000 settlement to resolve the Bronx Zoo ticket class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Bronx Zoo class action settlement, class members can receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the amount they paid in processing fees. Exact payments vary, and no estimate is available.

The Wildlife Conservation Society also agreed to change its business practices to comply with New York law. In the future, the organization will either not charge processing fees or will disclose all fees before consumers select tickets for purchase.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is May 1, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Bronx Zoo ticket fee settlement is scheduled for June 5, 2025.

To receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 21, 2025.

Who’s Eligible

Consumers who purchased electronic tickets to the Bronx Zoo from the Bronx Zoo website between Aug. 28, 2022, and Jan. 16, 2024, and were charged processing fees.

Potential Award

Pro rata cash benefit based on amount paid in processing fees.
