A settlement has been reached in a Honda class action lawsuit, providing relief and repairs to the owners and lessees of 2015 Honda CR-V vehicles who experienced a vibration defect.

The award for the Honda CR-V settlement is not monetary. Instead, Honda has created a Customer Outreach Program to inform vehicle owners about the existence and availability of vehicle modifications.

The vehicle modifications were previously approved by Honda, but plaintiffs in the class action argued that the car dealership did not adequately communicate these remedies to consumers experiencing vibration issues in their 2015 Honda CR-V.

The settlement will also provide regular reminders about warranty coverage regarding the vehicle modifications and about settlement Class Members’ rights.

Although the settlement is not monetary, payment amounts will be negotiated for class counsel and class representative awards. Class counsel attorneys’ fees and litigation expenses have yet to be negotiated. Class Representatives may be eligible for a cash reward based on their experiences.

Plaintiffs who submitted their vehicles for testing and inspection are eligible for a $4,000 cash reward. Plaintiffs who did not submit their vehicles for testing and inspection are eligible for a $2,500 cash reward.

The Honda CR-V class action lawsuit was originally filed in May 2015, alleging that the a defect in the vehicles’ engines cause vibrating “to the point of nausea.”

In October 2015, Honda motioned to consolidate the class action with similar suits. Honda and a group of plaintiffs argued that the claims should be consolidated in a California federal court, while another group of plaintiffs argued for consolidation in Ohio federal court.

The latter group won the debate and, in March 2016, the class action was consolidated in Ohio federal court.

Class Members are not required to submit any Claim Form in order to participate in the settlement. The exclusion and objection date was Aug. 24, 2018 and the final approval hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6, 2018.

I am Honda 2015 original owner. we complained and eventually, Honda confessed. I DID NOT receive $2500. How do I claim the award?

******HONDA HAS KNOWN FOR 16 YEARS THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM!!!*****

    AND DONE NOTHING.

****THIS ISSUE OCCURS ON 2005 CRV’s AS WELL!****
    I have a 2005 crv.

Looking for another Honda. Borrowed a 2014 from a great dealership (not a Honda dealer) for weekend to take to my mechanic first thing Monday to decide to purchase or not. Drove 2014 crv home last night 2 hrs and it started the shuddering at 25-35mph from an all most stop as driver in front of me needed to turn. Average speed was 55mph entire way back. Same exact trigger factors that started my 2005 shuddering.
Have spent last 2yrs replacing items in my 2005 at the nervousness of my patient mechanic. (I looooove my 2005 crv that I even give him a hug at night, I talk to him (he’s a him, yes), yearly detail cleaning (engine and all) and a custom hail shield sheet for when there r no parking garages around and hail is expected…. he is home away from home where I raised my first and second gen Svcs Dogs, first gen Search and Rescue (SAR) dogs and now my third gen Svcs Dogs and second gen SAR dogs. So yeah, I’m extremely attached to my 2005 crv.)

Have been researching all day. Find this. I have been a Honda lifer since I was a child. Only grew up with Honda’s. I am 46yo. Now, I’m angry that HONDA HAS KNOWN FOR 16 YEARS THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM!!! AND DONE NOTHING. And heartbroken my 2005 boy will no longer be joining me on more life adventures. He’s not “just” a vehicle. He was THEEEEE reason I was able too help and give back to my community in so many ways.

Shame on you Honda!! You STILL KNOW YOU ARE CAUSING PAIN in many different forms!!! And not fixing YOUR KNOWN FAULT!!

Hi I just filed a complaint with the National Center for Dispute Settlement. Found out there was a class action suit back in 2015 for the vibration issue. I have a hearing at the dealership the 3/19/20. American Honda left a message stating the the problem does not warrant a repurchase or replacement but the vibration gets really bad that my daughter will not go out in my car because she gets nauseated. When I bought the car in 12/26/15 it seemed find but took it back early January & was told the rpm’s were in the range. Even after warranty was out dealer told me I would have to paid a diagnostic fee to figure out what’s wrong. As others have stated in the comments, I’ll never buy a Honda again. I’ll stick with American cars.

  4. BOYCOTT HONDA says:

When will this sub-standard americrap honda garbage will stop existing? I can’t wait. I want it gone like bad memories for all the trouble it has put me through. Nobody in my circle of relatives friends strangers will ever buy a honda. Never again!!! Sue these bastards out of existence. Don’t wait for class action lawyers. You won’t get much compensation. Just file individual lawsuits. Demand your hondas to be restored to factory conditions AND financial compensation.

  5. A. Marks says:

I had a 2014 that had this problem as well. In Dec 2018 that car was involved in an accident and I replaced it with a 2016 CRV. Guess what- SAME ISSUE! While it is noticeable at idling and low speeds, with the 2016 it is REALLY noticeable upon start up, especially if the car isn’t driven daily. The shudder/vibration is so strong it feels as though the car is out of gas and sputtering to a halt. Quite shocking each time it happens!

If the class action is ever extended or re-filed to include these years, I would be interested in being contacted!

2014 Crap-RV started shaking after 4 years. Towards the end of warranty americrap honda and their local stealership representatives started giving me their typical bullshit. Stealership ignored TSB, pretended can’t replicate problem, asked money for TSB service. I’m going to sue them out of existence. Both americrap honda and their local money grabbing scammers! How much is their hourly rate now, still $130 or is it $200 now? $130 is so 2018 rate. Disgusting corporation, disgusting quality. Americrap honda makes THEIR problems OUR problems. Sue the bastards until they join other brands that no longer exist.

  6. Rita Patel says:

If anyone care to check online that Honda CRV radiator shaking issue is in all year CRV I have 2006 and issue is there from day one but did not know how to describe that time and I took it to dealership and they did not know what I was talking about. Now after years when out of warranty found out how to describe it but too late. Why we can’t start new class action

    1. BOYCOTT HONDA says:

can’t start new class action because it’s not in their interest. YOU file your own individual lawsuit. Honda does fix their design flaws and defects out of warranty. You just have to demand it. Plus compensation for the trouble. If everyone start filing instead of joining idiotic class action, there won’t be a honda. It’ll be gone like a bad dream. YOU have to lift a finger to accomplish something in this shithole country. Punish honda if you want to get something done. Go after them.

  7. Edith Glenn says:

I dont understand why they only fixing 2015 and the 2014 also has this problem????

    1. Erica Esterson says:

Exactly! My 2014 CRV is shaking badly 3 weeks after the first attempted fix. Dealer updated computer and replace transmission fluid. Three weeks later, shaking at low speeds is back, and now it even slipped a gear at 40 mph. It’s so bad the entire car shakes and we vibrate in our seats. Dealer says it needs new torque converter but that requires approval by Honda. Dealer has to plug a computer into the car and record it doing the shaking, then send to Honda engineering for approval. Of course, it won’t do the shaking while I am at dealer because the roads are 6 lanes heavy urban traffic and we can’t get it to go from stopped to around 30 mph which is when it does the shimming/ shudder/ shake. I was a loyal 20+ year Honda customer and my 2014 CRV only has 50k miles on it. Never again will I buy a Honda! So now I have a 2019 CRV loaner car from dealer and am waiting to see if they can manage to capture data from my car and get Honda to approve. I should not have a piece of junk at 50k miles. Very disappointed in Honda’s engineering and customer service.

    2. BOYCOTT HONDA says:

Yes my 2014 also has transmission shudder. Dealer saw the TSB, refuses to fix, because end of warranty, now out of power train warranty. Now i’ll include both local stealership and americrap honda as defendants. THEIR problems are NOT OUR problems!!! I’ll never buy another honda crap again.

      1. Shane says:

I have a 2005 CRV an it shudders been 25-35mph. Had I found this in 2018 (it’s now 2021), I would not have spend over $3,000 to fix what my mechanic and I believed to be fixable.
****CONCLUSION: THIS VIBRATION ISSUE IS PRESENT IN 2005 CRV’s!!!***

  8. Michele Ballew says:

I’m sure this doesn’t come under the vibration case, but my car since the beginning is so loud on the inside it sounds like there’s a window open. I will have every window shut tight and it still sounds like a window open. Well they said it’s just normal road noise. So I took it to another Honda dealer and he said it’s just Air Turbulence and it’s normal, that’s just the way the car is built. He could hear how loud it was. The guy at the first Honda dealer told me it would be Well over $570.00 for them to just look at the Honda CR-V AWD just to look at it and see where the problem was. Then more for any repairs that might be needed. So I called the mechanic back a few days later and said my brother in law is going to pay for it but he’d like an estimate in writing and a summary of just what your going to be doing for that $570.00 minimum. So I went down to the first Honda dealer where I purchased car and prints me out an estimate of $198.00 dollars. The minute I mentioned bringing a man into the picture the price dropped $372.00. But because I was a stupid woman that they thought they could get for more money. So one dealer said it’s just road noise the other dealer said it’s just air turbulence and the way the cars made, nothing they can do about it. Is there anyway this could go into the Honda case? I would appreciate any help. I have also complained to them about the tire gauge light constantly coming on. They said well every time the weather changes that will turn the light on. I feel it is defected. I have other who have those same tire lights and they don’t have that problem. I have also ridden in many other cars that don’t sound as loud as mine. I had a 1998 Mercedes had 148 original miles on it never made the noise this did and I just gave it to my nephew 2 years ago. I also had a 1998 Saturn I bought brand new also just gave that to my nephew never sounded like my 2016 Honda CRV and they were old cars. I know something is wrong and I feel I’m being discriminated against because I’m an older woman, and handicapped.

    Thank you,
    Michele

    1. BOYCOTT HONDA says:

CRV is not well insulated. I get road noise, had both sides rear pillars rattle repaired, many other issues from day one. 2014 Crap-RV. Americrap honda never compensated me for THEIR problems. They made THEIR problems MY problems. I’m going to change that. THEIR PROBLEMS ARE NOT OUR PROBLEMS. I submitted my case to classaction.org but i guess their lawyers didn’t see bug money in it. I’ll take care of it myself. Americrap honda will pay.
