If you purchased a Cricket cell phone between July 12, 2013 and July 9, 2018, you may be eligible for numerous benefits available in a class action settlement.
Following Cricket’s merger with AT&T, numerous consumers found that they were unable to use their Cricket Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) phones. This prompted lead plaintiff Tim Bond to file a class action lawsuit against Cricket Communications LLC in March 2015. After years of litigation, the two parties have reached a settlement.
Class Members include consumers who have purchased a qualifying Cricket CDMA phone between July 12, 2013 and July 9, 2018.
Under the settlement, Class Members are eligible for one of three benefits:
- Unlock Benefit: Settlement Class Members will be able to unlock their qualifying CDMA phone which may allow them to activate the phone with another wireless carrier.
- Data Benefit: Settlement Class Members will be able to port an existing wireless number onto a new line of Cricket service without paying an activation fee, and receive an additional 1 GB of high speed data for free after maintaining one month of service.
- Four Month Data Benefit: Settlement Class Members who maintain one month of future Cricket service on either an existing or new line of Cricket service will be able to receive 1 GB of free high speed data for up to four subsequent consecutive months of timely prepaid service.
Claim Forms can be submitted online or through the mail, but must be submitted by Feb. 4, 2019.
Class counsel will ask for attorneys’ fees and expenses up to $300,000. Bond will potentially receive a service award payment of $3,500.
Class Members who want to object or opt out of the Cricket class action settlement must do so by Oct. 9, 2018.
A final approval hearing is scheduled for Nov. 16, 2018.

Cricket still as of today 6-14-2023 refuses to unlock my phone. I lost one and really need it….same as last time I tried. I turned all my paperwork in on time for class action. Very discouraged. Englewood -Denver area crickets.
I think cricket needs to pay up. It makes them look bad.
What’s going on still haven’t received anything
I filed a claims and have not heard enything else about what’s going on or a refund.
Does anyone know when they will start letting everyone know what will be done. I am still with Cricket and I haven’t heard anything yet.
I di a claim last year an havent recieve anything so when do we get the check
I left a voicemail asking for a claim form, i never received one.
I filed a claim on two phones and I am no longer with cricket nor do I want to be, I haven’t recieved anything!!!
I still haven’t received anything yet or heard anything I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on
Chatting with Cricket now, and they are denying unlocking the phones because of their rule of not being active long enough. Any recourse with this?
Why is it that Cricket customers were not informed about this Class Action Settlement until it was after the deadline ? This is continuing the unjustly business. We loyal customers should be compensated…
I tried to file a claim today but it states that it’s past the due date 2/4/19 which is today.
