$850K IGK dry shampoo contamination class action settlement

Luxury Brand Partners paid $850,000 as part of a IGK dry shampoo settlement to resolve claims its dry shampoo sprays were contaminated with benzene, a known human carcinogen.

The settlement benefits consumers who purchased IGK Direct Flight, IGK Jet Lag and IGK First Class dry shampoo products before April 23, 2024.

According to the class action lawsuit, IGK dry shampoo products contained unsafe levels of benzene it did not warn consumers about. Benzene is a known human carcinogen linked to leukemia and other blood cancers.

IGK is a hair care brand owned by Luxury Brand Partners LLC.

Luxury Brand Partners hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $850,000 to resolve the benzene contamination class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the IGK dry shampoo settlement, consumers can receive a cash payment based on the number of products purchased and any proof of purchase provided. Without proof of purchase, class members can receive $4 for each purchased product up to five products for a maximum payment of $20. With proof of purchase, consumers can claim an unlimited number of products and receive full refunds. Payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis depending on the number of claims filed.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 6, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Nov. 19, 2024.

To receive IGK dry shampoo settlement benefits, class members must file a valid claim form by Nov. 19, 2024.

Who’s Eligible

Consumers who purchased IGK Direct Flight, IGK Jet Lag and IGK First Class dry shampoo products before April 23, 2024.
