SelectQuote agreed to pay $8.25 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it shared consumer information with Facebook and TikTok.

The settlement benefits individuals who provided their information on selectquote.com for the purposes of obtaining an insurance quote between Oct. 17, 2019 and Oct. 17, 2023 depending on their state of residence.

For Florida residents, the eligible period is Oct. 17, 2019 to Oct. 17, 2023. Eligibility for California, Maryland and Massachusetts residents is between Oct. 17, 2020 and Oct. 17, 2023. All other class members fall between Oct. 17, 2021 and Oct. 17, 2023.

SelectQuote is accused of violating various state consumer privacy laws by sharing consumer information with third parties, such as Facebook and TikTok.

SelectQuote is an insurance company that provides quotes for various types of insurance. According to the company’s website, it has provided over 2 million insurance quotes.

SelectQuote has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $8.25 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.

Under the terms of the SelectQuote settlement, class members can receive a cash payment.

Class members can receive up to $20 from the settlement. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of participating class members.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is July 1, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the SelectQuote settlement is scheduled for July 29, 2025.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 31, 2025.


Who’s Eligible

The settlement benefits people who provided their information on selectquote.com for the purpose of obtaining a quote for insurance products during the following periods: Florida residents from Oct. 17, 2019 to Oct. 17, 2023; California, Maryland and Massachusetts residents from Oct. 17, 2020 to Oct. 17, 2023; and all other consumers from Oct. 17, 2021 to Oct. 17, 2023.
