Deloitte agreed to a $6.3 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach that compromised Rhode Island’s RIBridges system exposing residents’ information.
The RIBridges settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from the state of Rhode Island informing them that their information may have been compromised in a data breach on Dec. 5, 2024.
According to the class action lawsuit, Deloitte failed to prevent the Rhode Island data breach that compromised the information of over 735,000 residents. The data breach allegedly compromised sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, banking information and health data.
Deloitte is a consulting firm that provides services to a wide range of clients, including governmental agencies and private companies.
Deloitte has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $6.3 million settlement to resolve the Rhode Island data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the RIBridges settlement, class members can receive either up to $5,000 for documented losses or a smaller alternate payment of $100.
The settlement also provides two years of free medical data monitoring through CyEx’s medical data monitoring product. This product includes real-time credit monitoring, dark web scanning, identity theft insurance, fraud resolution assistance and more.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 30, 2025.
