BJC HealthCare agreed to a $5.5 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it shared patient information with third parties without consent.

The BJC HealthCare class action settlement benefits individuals who used BJC’s MyChart patient portal between June 2017 and August 2022.

According to plaintiffs in the MyChart privacy class action lawsuit, BJC HealthCare shared patient information with third parties, such as Facebook and Google, without patient consent. This information sharing allegedly violated patients’ privacy rights.

BJC HealthCare is a health system in Missouri and Illinois. The system has more than 30,000 employees and 15 hospitals.

BJC has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $5.5 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations. The BJC HealthCare class action settlement could increase to $9.25 million depending on the number of claims filed.

Under the terms of the BJC HealthCare MyChart privacy class action settlement, class members can receive a cash payment. Each class member will receive a $35 payment, though this amount may increase or decrease depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Sept. 8, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the BJC HealthCare settlement is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2025.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Oct. 8, 2025.
