ALN Medical Management agreed to a $4 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach.
The settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from ALN Medical Management informing them their information may have been compromised in a data breach in March 2024.
Between March 18 and March 24, 2024, ALN Medical Management’s third-party environment was allegedly compromised by an unauthorized actor, according to a data breach notification letter sent to affected individuals. The data breach reportedly compromised sensitive patient information, including Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, government ID numbers, financial information, medical information and health insurance data.
Plaintiffs in the data breach class action lawsuit claim ALN Medical Management could have prevented the breach through reasonable cybersecurity measures.
ALN Medical Management is a medical billing and revenue cycle management company that serves healthcare providers across the country.
ALN Medical Management has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $4 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the ALN Medical Management settlement, class members can receive either documented loss payments or an alternate cash payment.
Class members who experienced documented losses as a result of the data breach can receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for these losses. These payments require documentation, such as bank statements, credit reports, receipts and other documents.
Class members who did not experience documented losses or who do not have documentation can receive an alternate cash payment of $50.
All class members are eligible for one year of free medical data monitoring through CyEx’s Medical Shield Complete. This service includes one-bureau credit monitoring, medical identity monitoring, real-time alerts and $1 million in identity theft insurance.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is April 15, 2026.
