Audienceview Ticketing agreed to pay $435,000 as part of a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2023 data breach.

The settlement benefits individuals whom Audienceview Ticketing sent a notification letter stating their payment card information was or may have been compromised in a February 2023 data breach.

The Audienceview Ticketing data breach reportedly compromised sensitive consumer information. Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit say Audienceview Ticketing failed to protect their information from the breach and did not promptly notify them of it, forcing consumers to take additional steps to protect themselves from fraud and identity theft.

Audienceview Ticketing is a ticketing platform that allows customers to purchase tickets for sports, arts, attractions, higher education and other events.

The company hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $435,000 class action settlement to resolve the allegations.

Under the terms of the Audienceview Ticketing settlement, class members can receive reimbursement for lost time and out-of-pocket losses related to the data breach.

Class members can receive up to $5,000 for unreimbursed expenses, losses, charges or other damages related to the data breach. This reimbursement cap includes up to four hours of lost time compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.

Class members who do not wish to claim lost time and out-of-pocket losses can instead receive an alternative cash payment of $75.

In addition to providing monetary benefits, Audienceview Ticketing agreed to provide documents to class counsel showing it took data security measures to remedy the issues that led to the data breach. The company also implemented other business practices to help ensure information security.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Jan. 29, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Audienceview Ticketing data breach settlement is scheduled for April 10, 2025.
