The Washington Nationals have agreed to a $3 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it discriminated against older baseball fans by denying them access to a “Millennial” ticket discount.

The Washington Nationals settlement benefits individuals who purchased a single-game ticket to a Washington Nationals home baseball game during the 2023 or 2024 Major League Baseball regular season between March 29, 2023, and March 28, 2024, whose age was 40 or older at the time of the ticket purchase and whose actual damages were greater than zero, where such ticket purchase would have been eligible for the “Millennial” or “Young Professional Discount” had the purchaser been under age 40 at the time of the ticket purchase.

Plaintiffs in the Washington Nationals class action lawsuit claimed that the MLB team violated the D.C. Human Rights Act by denying older baseball fans access to a “Millennial” ticket discount. The discount allegedly violated the rights of older baseball fans by discriminating against them based on their age.

The Washington Nationals are a Major League Baseball team based in Washington, D.C.

The Nationals haven’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $3 million to resolve the age discrimination class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Washington Nationals settlement, class members can receive either a cash payment or a ticket credit.

Cash payments will be 62.2% of actual damages. Ticket credits will be used to purchase tickets for a Nationals home game occurring within 12 months of when the credit is provided to the class member.

For example, class members who purchased one ticket as part of a covered ticket purchase and whose actual damages for that ticket are $20 will have a choice between receiving a cash payment of $12.44 or a ticket credit of $40.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 7, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Washington Nationals class action settlement is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2025.

In order to receive a settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form within 90 days of the final approval hearing or Dec. 9, 2025, based on a final approval date of Sept. 10, 2025.
