Google and YouTube agreed to a $30 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims they violated privacy laws by collecting personal data from children under 13 who watched content on YouTube.

The YouTube privacy settlement benefits individuals who were under 13 years old and watched content allegedly directed to children on YouTube between July 1, 2013, and April 1, 2020.

According to the class action lawsuit, Google and YouTube violated privacy laws by collecting personal data from children who watched cartoons, nursery rhymes and other child-directed content on YouTube. The plaintiffs claim that Google used this information for its advertising business.

YouTube, a Google umbrella service owned by Alphabet Inc., has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $30 million to resolve the privacy class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the YouTube privacy settlement, class members can receive a cash payment. Exact payment amounts will vary depending on the number of claims filed with the settlement administrator. No payment estimates are available at this time.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Dec. 8, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the YouTube kids privacy settlement is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2026.

In order to receive a class action settlement payment, class members must submit a valid claim form by Jan. 21, 2026.
