General Revenue Corporation settlement

General Revenue Corporation (GRC) has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit related to a collection letter it sent regarding student loans between May 23, 2011 and June 6, 2012. The class action lawsuit alleged that GRC did not comply with certain federal statutes, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). If you received a collection letter from GRC regarding your student loan during this time period, you may be entitled to payment from the class action settlement.

The GRC class action lawsuit was filed by plaintiff Bryana Bible on behalf of herself and a class of student loan borrowers. She alleged that GRC violated the FDCPA by sending collection letters that misstated the amount of time available to request a review of the student loan debt.

GRC denies the allegations and denies any wrongdoing. However, GRC has agreed to settle the class action lawsuit to avoid the expense, inconvenience and distraction of continued litigation.

Who’s Eligible

Class Members of the GRC student loan collection letter settlement include approximately 134,000 people identified by GRC as having been sent a collection letter regarding their student loans from May 23, 2011 and June 6, 2012.

Class Members are automatically included in the General Revenue FDCPA class action settlement and do not need to submit a Claim Form in order to qualify for payment.
