Charlotte Tilbury Beauty agreed to pay $2.925 million to resolve a class action lawsuit claiming it violated Illinois biometric privacy laws by collecting facial geometry scans from website visitors.
The Charlotte Tilbury settlement benefits individuals who used a beauty technology tool or any other virtual try-on tool, including, but not limited to, “Charlotte’s Virtual Try On,” “Pro Skin Analysis,” “Foundation Shade Finder,” “Complexion Edit,” “Highlight Shade Finder,” “How To Apply,” “Blush Finder” and “Skin Reader,” on the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty website and/or mobile app in Illinois between Dec. 1, 2019, and Aug. 31, 2023.
According to the Charlotte Tilbury class action lawsuit, the company collected facial geometry scans from website visitors through its virtual try-on tools without obtaining their consent or providing the required disclosures. Plaintiffs in the case say this practice violates Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act.
Charlotte Tilbury is a beauty brand that offers a range of products, including makeup and skin care.

Got paid $144 today. Thought I would’ve received way more than that but I’m greatful for still getting something.
I think it’s ridiculous that it only applies to residents of IL. I was talked into using this tool more than once by a consultant at CT, but I don’t qualify, even though I’m sure state of residence had nothing to do with whether or not they complied with laws. If anything changes, and it’s rightfully opened up to include customers from other states, (as it should) please notify me/add me to the list. In the meantime, this puts a huge distaste in my mouth knowing this about CT. As it is, she charges a ridiculous amount for her products, but apparently, she’s SO greedy, she’s taken more money she didn’t deserve, but the only people who count are IL residents. The rest of us only have 1 recourse available at this point, which is to boycott everything and anything that’s related to CT. That doesn’t fix anything though in relationship to how we’ve already been intentionally wronged.
That sucks . I could’ve been in the same boat as you thankfully I lived there for 16 months taking care of family.

I used that virtual try on makeup during my visit to a friends wedding while in Illinois (2020) but I reside in California so would I be eligible for the settlement?
