Panera has agreed to a $2.5 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it failed to protect consumer data from a 2024 data breach.

The Panera data breach class action settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from Panera informing them that their private information may have been compromised in a data breach on March 23, 2024.

The Panera data breach class action lawsuit claims Panera failed to protect consumer data from a data breach in March 2024. The breach allegedly compromised sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers.

Panera, a nationwide bakery and cafe chain, has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $2.5 million to resolve the class action allegations.

Under the terms of the Panera settlement, class members can receive up to $500 for ordinary out-of-pocket expenses, such as credit monitoring, credit report fees and communication expenses.

Class members who experienced extraordinary losses as a result of the Panera data breach can receive up to $6,500 in reimbursement. This includes unreimbursed fraudulent charges, identity theft damages, fraudulent tax returns and up to 10 hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour.

California class members can receive an additional $100 statutory payment.

Any funds remaining in the settlement after payments are distributed will be used to make residual cash payments of up to $250. These payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis depending on the number of claims filed.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Oct. 13, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the Panera settlement is scheduled for Jan. 29, 2026.

To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 11, 2025.

  1. Jacob Klein says:

Received mail about lawsuit but mail was thrown away. Need info on how to file a claim as I do not have the class ID anymore.

    1. Irene says:

Madam or sir, did you work for them because that’s how the date of breach was exposed to Social Security numbers, if you do not work for them, you are not a part of this when you became a customer. If you are a customer, you didn’t need to put your Social Security number and if you did, you shouldn’t have because I didn’t put it I don’t put it in my Social Security number when I’m a customer at a location at a store any kind of store that I have an app with doesn’t make sense to put a Social Security number, unless it’s your bank.

  2. Julie Krome says:

    Please add me

  3. Lisa says:

Strangely did not see the notice but definitely do use Panera and should have received notice – this has happened before in the past.

  4. Michelle Jackson says:

I can’t find the notice but definitely do use panera and should have received notice

    1. Benjamin L says:

See I’m a former employee so I qualify for that and a notice did come in the mail for me. I’m not sure if you didn’t work for them. If you qualify only people who worked for them qualify for this because their Social Security numbers were exposed not if you’re a customer you do not need to give them your Social Security number when you’re a customer and if you did, you shouldn’t have

    3. Robert Burk says:

Why would you receive a notice? You don’t work for them it’s a data breach. You should’ve never received a notice. Only people that worked for them. Received a notice. And please stop applying for stuff that does a resonate to you. Stop being greedy. That’s not nice and if you keep filing for every settlement, you will get red flagged.

  5. Kyle depaz says:

How long to recieve the check? I submitted my form a month ago.

    1. Paul S says:

How was your Social Security number exposed? If you were not an employee at Panera bread this is a data breach. See I worked for them and I received a notice in the mail. Why would you put your Social Security number? If you’re only a customer that doesn’t make any sense This settlement is for a data breach not because you’re a customer. You have the app to go order something and pick it up.

    1. Natalie gains says:

Why would people add you, madam? Did you work for Panera bread cause this is what it’s all about a data breach Social Security numbers got exposed stuff of that nature. If you’re only a customer, why would you give Panera bread your Social Security number if you’re not not working for them does that make sense stop applying for settlements that do not apply for you. You’re gonna get red flag , too many people wanna apply for stuff that does a resonate to them and that is called scammer
