Consumers whose information was compromised in 2022 and 2023 Cash App data breaches could benefit from a $15 million settlement.
The settlement benefits current and former Cash App customers whose account and personal information was obtained without consent or who experienced fraudulent withdrawals or transfers between Aug. 23, 2018, and Aug. 20, 2024.
According to the class action lawsuit, Cash App failed to protect consumers from two data breaches in 2022 and 2023. The 2022 breach reportedly involved an employeeโs unauthorized access to Cash App Investing accounts, whereas the 2023 breach involved a third partyโs unauthorized access using recycled phone numbers.
Cash App is a financial services platform that allows users to transfer money, pay vendors and invest.
Cash App hasnโt admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $15 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive up to $2,500 for documented losses related to the data breaches, including credit costs, bank fees, travel expenses and up to three hours of lost time compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.
Class members who experienced fraudulent transactions as a result of the data breaches can receive additional compensation for these losses if they provide sufficient documentation.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 1, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2024.
To receive Cash App settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 18, 2024.

Not sure going forward if and how my data was breached and used!?
I had issues twice with fraudulent charges to my card I reported them and they denied my request for refunds even though I cancel my card immediately the one time it was several hundred dollars and once I cancel my card I am not able to go back and retrieve any of the information from that account so how would I have documentation of this
Cash app cancelled a lot of my paymentsโฆdue to fraudulent activities that I know nothing aboutโฆ.and when I asked could I get some of my money they gave me $40.
They did the same to me. I told them someone was using my card without my permission. I given them the account they were submitted on my account. Than they tell me to contact the merchant for that company. I ordered 3 or 4 cards from them because someone kept using my account to purchase items. And go pick it up from Walmart. Or an online store.

My SSS has even been stolen, & yes I received a notification that my cash app at 1st was locked up because 2many wrong attempts had tried signing in. From that more& more problems were acurded, Not only did they get into my account &take it over, but my bank wouldnโt even allow me to cancel my account because whoever set these accounts up live in chinia, and they set up billing contracts with all these companies like temu or shien. So every 2 weeks they take around 150/200 from each one and even though itโs my account numbers they are using, nobody says I c@n do anything about it. Now they are putting me depth, Iโm a single disabled 45 year old woman thatโs barley getting by. I have no air or heat, Iโm homeless and have been couch surfing for 4years now waiting for help, that I honestly donโt ever see myself getting anyway, because of the simple fact I decided to wait & fall in luv before I had kids. Now anybody &everybody gets housing before I can. I relizeaze thatโs not your fault & I apologize for getting off topic. My old cash app account n a little bit of money I did have on tht account MY NIECE AND HER BOYFRIEND went be hind my back n sold MY CASH App account to a online gambling site. N I didnโt know anything bout it until a couple weeks went by n I got on that gambling site n it showed my old cash App account was no longer available n it showed it was sold 2 this STEVE GAMBLING site WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!! N when I talked to my Nieces boyfriend HE Said that yes MY NIECE DESTUNIE SOLD IT N GOT $425.00 from this STEVE guy cuz I guess he buys old cash App accounts. N nobody will do anything about it!! Which makes me very worried cuz now I know obviously cash App AINโT VERY SECURE OR AINโT VERY GOOD AT PROTECTING PEOPLEโS ACCOUNTS OR IDENTITY WHICH IS SAD!!!!

I would love to get a settlement from cash app on money they said I won I didnโt get it at all
My cash App was robbed about a Year ago
I was still sleeping; when I heard an alert from cash App; confirm that fraudulent activity was going on.
Cash App still released the funds to the Fraudulent individual.
I tried to trace the transaction, but everything came back to me in Chinese language.
I never received any compensation from that and I also lost Funds.
