Consumers whose information was compromised in 2022 and 2023 Cash App data breaches could benefit from a $15 million settlement.
The settlement benefits current and former Cash App customers whose account and personal information was obtained without consent or who experienced fraudulent withdrawals or transfers between Aug. 23, 2018, and Aug. 20, 2024.
According to the class action lawsuit, Cash App failed to protect consumers from two data breaches in 2022 and 2023. The 2022 breach reportedly involved an employeeโs unauthorized access to Cash App Investing accounts, whereas the 2023 breach involved a third partyโs unauthorized access using recycled phone numbers.
Cash App is a financial services platform that allows users to transfer money, pay vendors and invest.
Cash App hasnโt admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $15 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive up to $2,500 for documented losses related to the data breaches, including credit costs, bank fees, travel expenses and up to three hours of lost time compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.
Class members who experienced fraudulent transactions as a result of the data breaches can receive additional compensation for these losses if they provide sufficient documentation.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 1, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2024.
To receive Cash App settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 18, 2024.

Please add I was hacked on cashapp
Please add me as well.
Back in July I was trying to transfer monies from Cash app to my greendot and it was hacked by someone whoโs bank card number and name is known and Cash app refused to honor any of my 3 claims I filed.
I NEED ADVICE!
In September 2019, the bank account AND debit card thatโs linked to my Cash App account had 2 unauthorized transactions. It appeared as a debit charge from Capital One, however I didnโt have any current or open account or credit with Capital One. Iโm beginning to wonder if my bank account information was accessed (& robbed) via Cash App.
I only think this now because I contacted Capital One shortly after I made the discovery (2019) and according to Capital One, there was no evidence the transactions were on their end. Also according to Capital One, during their data breach settlement, my information was NOT compromised in their breach. Convenient, huh?
I canโt get the claim to โsubmitโ after entering all of my info. I have left messages on the claim line and noone had called me back. How are you guys submitting the claim?
