Consumers whose information was compromised in 2022 and 2023 Cash App data breaches could benefit from a $15 million settlement.
The settlement benefits current and former Cash App customers whose account and personal information was obtained without consent or who experienced fraudulent withdrawals or transfers between Aug. 23, 2018, and Aug. 20, 2024.
According to the class action lawsuit, Cash App failed to protect consumers from two data breaches in 2022 and 2023. The 2022 breach reportedly involved an employeeโs unauthorized access to Cash App Investing accounts, whereas the 2023 breach involved a third partyโs unauthorized access using recycled phone numbers.
Cash App is a financial services platform that allows users to transfer money, pay vendors and invest.
Cash App hasnโt admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $15 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class members can receive up to $2,500 for documented losses related to the data breaches, including credit costs, bank fees, travel expenses and up to three hours of lost time compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.
Class members who experienced fraudulent transactions as a result of the data breaches can receive additional compensation for these losses if they provide sufficient documentation.
The deadline for exclusion and objection is Nov. 1, 2024.
The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Dec. 16, 2024.
To receive Cash App settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 18, 2024.

Yep they allowed several entities take money make transactions without my knowledge then suddenly the closed my account leaving with nothing not the finds in question excepted deposits for me but closed my account.

CashApp is making it extremely hard to file a claim. Opening it up for another lawsuit. SMH
Yes cash app closed my account giving no explanation and refuse to allow me access to that account or create another. This prevents me from getting documentation needed to file a claim.

Iโve moved, not sure if I git a notice, but my cashapp my initial cash app account was closed and had to create a new one due to not being able to get back in old one. More than once, money has been taken from my account, along with my account also being hacked. I really need help because my phone, every app and account I have, have been accessed, compromised to the point my phone is being controlled, my accounts being used by the hacker(s) along with my car then being hacked, and itโs gotten out of control. Iโve contacted numerous companies and gotten NO HELP.

There were numerous requests and denials on my account. One of the person that requested money was deceased. I called Cash app and they deleted my account but I do have snapshots of the transactions
