TwinStar Credit Union agreed to a $1.75 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it charged unfair overdraft and nonsufficient funds (NSF) fees.

The TwinStar Credit Union class action settlement benefits TwinStar Credit Union members who were charged multiple NSF or overdraft fees on the same transaction between Feb. 25, 2015, and Feb. 28, 2021, or who were charged an overdraft fee for one-time, non-PIN debit card transactions that later settled into a negative balance.

Plaintiffs in the TwinStar Credit Union overdraft fees class action lawsuit accused TwinStar of charging unfair NSF and overdraft fees. These fees were allegedly charged to consumers who had sufficient funds at the time of the transaction but later had their balances drop below zero.

TwinStar Credit Union is a financial institution with branches in Washington and Oregon.

TwinStar has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.75 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations.

Under the terms of the TwinStar Credit Union class action settlement, class members can receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. Exact payments will vary depending on the number of participating class members.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is Aug. 1, 2025.

The final approval hearing for the TwinStar Credit Union overdraft fees settlement is scheduled for Sept. 26, 2025.

No claim form is required to benefit from the settlement. Class members who do not exclude themselves will automatically receive settlement benefits.

All TwinStar Credit Union members who were charged nonsufficient funds fees and/or overdraft fees between Feb. 25, 2015, and Feb. 28, 2021, for specific types of transactions.
