Krispy Kreme agreed to a $1.6 million class action settlement to resolve claims it failed to prevent a 2024 data breach that compromised sensitive consumer information.
The Krispy Kreme settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notice from Krispy Kreme informing them their private information may have been compromised in a data breach discovered on Nov. 29, 2024.
The Krispy Kreme data breach class action lawsuit claims Krispy Kreme failed to implement reasonable cybersecurity measures that could have prevented the 2024 data breach. As a result of Krispy Kreme’s alleged negligence, hackers were able to access sensitive consumer information, such as Social Security numbers and financial account information, the plaintiffs contend.
Krispy Kreme, a doughnut shop with locations around the world, has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $1.6 million settlement to resolve the class action allegations.
Under the terms of the Krispy Kreme settlement, class members can receive a cash payment and credit monitoring.
Class members who experienced documented losses as a result of the Krispy Kreme data breach can receive up to $3,500 in reimbursement for fraud, identity theft and other losses. Documentation, such as receipts, emails and phone records, must be included with the claim form.
Class members who did not experience documented losses can receive an alternate cash payment of $75. This payment may be increased or decreased on a pro rata basis depending on the number of claims filed.
All class members, regardless of whether they experienced documented losses, can receive one year of free credit monitoring. Class members should have received an activation code for this benefit with their mailed settlement notice.
Krispy Kreme also agreed to implement additional security measures to better protect consumer information. These measures will benefit consumers whose information is stored by Krispy Kreme.
The deadline for exclusion and objection to the class action settlement is June 6, 2026.
The final approval hearing for the Krispy Kreme settlement is scheduled for July 6, 2026.
To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by June 22, 2026.
