A $1.075 million class action settlement will resolve claims that Injured Workers Pharmacy failed to protect consumers from a 2021 data breach.

The Injured Workers Pharmacy settlement benefits individuals whose contact information or identifying information, such as date of birth or Social Security number, was potentially compromised in the data breach that began in January 2021, discovered in May 2021 and disclosed in February 2022.

According to the class action lawsuit, Injured Workers Pharmacy failed to prevent a data breach that resulted in unauthorized access to certain email accounts on its computer systems, potentially exposing personal information of current and former customers. Plaintiffs in the case argue the Injured Workers Pharmacy data breach could have been prevented through reasonable cybersecurity measures.

Injured Workers Pharmacy is a full-service workers’ compensation pharmacy that delivers prescriptions to injured workers.

Injured Workers Pharmacy has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to pay $1.075 million to resolve the data breach class action lawsuit.

Under the terms of the Injured Workers Pharmacy settlement, class members can receive up to $5,000 in compensation for unreimbursed economic losses, such as identity theft damages and credit expenses. Class members can also receive a pro rata cash payment that will vary depending on the number of valid claims filed and the amount of funds available, but payments are predicted to exceed $50 per valid claimant.

The Injured Workers Pharmacy data breach settlement also offers two years of free credit monitoring.

The exclusion and objection deadline was Nov. 8, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for Jan. 16, 2025.

The claim form deadline is Dec. 9, 2024.

    I filed claim after receiving a letter from the lawsuit administrators office and it’s been almost 3 .months and lve yet to receive any kind of compensation or news of any. I found a email for the 2 year credit monitoring program but where the cash we got awardedin federal court? My information is steady being breached as we speak but lve yet to receive any kind of compensation. So, l have no choice but to retain legal representation to find out

    I FILED A CLAIM MONTHS AGO AND CAN’T GET ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CASE. AFTER CHANGING ALL CARDS AND HAVING THEM SCRUB THE INTERNET OF ALL SOURCES, I’M STILL INCURRING COSTS FROM NORTON LIFELOCK AT $524.97 ANNUALLY.
