A new class action lawsuit accuses Maxi Canada of falsely advertising its Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets as “100% all natural” and containing “no artificial ingredients.”
In a Feb. 5 complaint, plaintiffs Jessica Desir, Ty-nice Norman-Robinson and Sherine Parker claim the Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets contain synthetic ingredients such as isolated soy protein and xanthan gum.
The plaintiffs argue that Maxi Canada makes the allegedly false claims in order to capitalize on consumers’ preference for natural foods that do not contain synthetic ingredients.
“Reasonable consumers understand Defendant’s labeling to mean that the Products contain only natural ingredients, and not any synthetic substances,” the Yummy Dino Buddies class action says.
Maxi Canada’s deceptive claims have enabled the company to profit enormously from consumer misperceptions, the Yummy Dino Buddies class action alleges.
Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets contain non-natural ingredients, class action says
Desir, Norman-Robinson and Parker want to represent a nationwide class and a New York subclass of consumers who bought the Yummy Dino Buddies chicken nuggets, which include the brand’s Original Dinosaur-Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets, Alphabet-Shaped Letter-Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets, Whole Grain Dinosaur-Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets, Gluten Free Dinosaur-Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets and Gluten Free Chicken Breast Fries.
The chicken nuggets class action alleges Maxi Canada is guilty of breach of express warranty and of violating New York General Business Law.
Desir, Norman-Robinson and Parker demand a jury trial and request declaratory and injunctive relief and an award of compensatory, statutory and punitive damages for themselves and all class members.
Last month, the U.S. food safety watchdog issued a public health alert for Wegmans chicken nuggets over concerns the nuggets may contain bone fragments.

Yes this is a load of crap people. Both ingredients are not synthetic and can be purchased in bulk quantities individuall, and in NON-GMO form. They are nothing more than a stabilizer to keep you little darlings nuggets from looking like partical board pieces in transit. Get over it! The carbon monoxide and dirty technology from electric cars is more detrimental.

I had no idea they weren’t natural. Hmm. I’ve been buying these for awhile thinking it’s better for my son who is now 10. Absolutely disappointed.
