shocked woman losing hair on hairbrushA class action lawsuit over WEN hair products has been filed by hundreds of women across 40 states, alleging that the products caused severe hair loss.

The women involved in the class action lawsuit against WEN Hair Care and its parent company, Guthy-Renker, claim that Wen Cleansing Conditioner not only caused hair loss and baldness but also scalp damage such as rashes and irritation. Others allege that the product caused hair breakage and discoloration.

The products involved in these allegations are designed, manufactured, and sold by Chaz Dean and Guthy-Renker, marketing their products with celebrity infomercials. Famous actresses such as Brooke Shields have been involved in the testimonials for this product, but hundreds of women across the nation disagree with these celebrity testimonies.

WEN Hair Care and Guthy-Renker claim that their products are used to drastically improve not only the appearance of a customer’s hair, but also its health, after using it just once.

WEN Hair Care infomercials have made several claims about the safety and effectiveness of their products. For instance, the product has been described as “gentle enough to use every day.” The company stated: “You can never use too much! The more you use, the better the results.”

However, the WEN class action lawsuit alleges that the hair care products contain “active ingredients [that] act as a depilatory and caustic agent, either by causing a chemical reaction that damages the hair strand and/or follicle.” According to the WEN lawsuit, there are “numerous harsh chemicals” in the formula, leading to the severe hair loss and scalp damage for many consumers.

Not only does the WEN hair loss lawsuit claim that the product is harmful, but also that the manufacturer knew about these hundreds of complaints and refused to take any action.

Despite these allegations, WEN has continued to be very successful. In its second year, the company reportedly brought in $100 million. Despite the many complaints, the products have had many positive reviews on Amazon, giving it an overall high rating.

Since the WEN hair loss class action lawsuit was initially filed, the companies have responded. “There is no scientific evidence to support any claim that our hair care products caused anyone to lose their hair. There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN hair products.”

Furthermore, the companies said that “we intend to vigorously contest the allegations made against our products. And we encourage any customer with any questions to contact us.”

According to current federal regulations, companies like Guthy-Renker are not required to reveal customer complaints or studies about personal care products. This leaves both consumers and the FDA out of the loop as to what exactly personal care products contain – and the dangers they may pose to the public.

Many consumers are saying that FDA regulations regarding hair care products may be in need of an update to prevent this kind of damage in the future.

If you or someone you know has experienced hair loss or any other damage to your hair or scalp after using a WEN hair care product, you may be able to gain some kind of compensation by filing an individual WEN hair loss lawsuit or joining a WEN class action lawsuit.
